Ibla, the Keys of the Soul, a documentary. A trip from Ragusa to New York directed by Marco Spagnoli

From January 14th, exclusively on ITsART, Ibla – Le Chiavi dell’Anima, a unique documentary that follows the winners of the Ibla Grand Prize competition on their tour around the world: from Asian megacities to American university cities and finally to New York City for the most exciting stage, the concert at Carnegie Hall.

Ibla Grand Prize is the international classical music competition that has transformed the baroque district of Ragusa into a cosmopolitan stage. Open to Italian and foreign composers, it has no age limits and has been held in Ibla since 1992 in the summer. Dozens of competitors from all over the world are welcomed in the heart of Ragusa Ibla, Piazza Pola, to participate in the selection, which turns into a sounding board for compositional and musical talent for 10 days.

Produced in 2021 by Samarcanda Film, directed by Marco Spagnoli, Ibla – The Keys of the Soul is a film about freedom, lightheartedness, music, beauty and the legacy of the past. But also about the future, about hope and dreams. Through the stories of young and old musicians and the guidance of Salvatore Moltisanti, musician from Ragusa who founded the award, the documentary shows how people still dream of a life made of music. There are those who see it as the only way to be successful, those who value their natural talent, those who continue a family legacy. For everyone, going to Ibla and performing in front of a cosmopolitan and attentive audience is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Ibla – The keys of the Soul will be available on ITsART from 14 January at the link:

  • In Vittoria the exhibition “Contact”

    In Vittoria the exhibition “Contact”

As every year, the Alpha Ets Association organizes an art exhibition on the occasion of its foundation anniversary with the main objective of highlighting and carving out a space for young emerging local and non-local artists.
President Alpha, Dr. Invernizio Antonietta, creator and founder, after the ‘Art for Rebirth’ project which involved 28 structures, once again insists on our territory and on art as an effective means of communication. She continues by stating: “Art is language, it allows you to say what you would like when words cannot or are not enough”.

Right and essential arm was Antonio Scribano, awarded in the last edition ” Addictions and voids of the soul ” chosen today as co-organizer of the same.

The exhibition took place at the Polycultural Museum of Vittoria (former prison) on January 4-5-6. It took the name of CONTACT, referring to that contact now almost prohibited following the pandemic, all that is missing but which is essential to man. The works exhibited were in fact developed during this long period of ‘change and readjustment’ to the new way of life and each of them is a message to be observed and deciphered.

We thank the participants who contributed to the realization of the event with their works.

    Jenny Di Maria, Vittoria.
    Flavia Albani, Acate.
    Giulia Parisi, Vittoria.
    Davide Parisi, Vittoria.
    Antonio Scribano, PH

The exhibition has been extended to January 10, 2022.

  • Theater, Pirandello with “The annuity” staged in Comiso

Theater, Pirandello with “The annuity” staged in Comiso

On 14 January at the Naselli Theater in Comiso with the direction of Walter Manfrè. Protagonist Angelo Tosto

Comiso – The actor Angelo Tosto will be the main protagonist of the second appointment of the Naselli theater season in Comiso. The next 14 January will be staged with “The annuity”, the theatrical performance, directed by the great Walter Manfrè, with which the Comisano theater intends to pay homage to Luigi Pirandello. An emblematic, joyful, ironic, paradoxical, amusing tale where Pirandello’s melancholy logic reaches heights of authentic enjoyment. A show that is a true jewel of Pirandello’s irony, produced by the Città Teatro Association and staged with the full company and original music by Carlo Muratori.

The plot is fun and surreal at the same time. The wealthy cloth merchant, Michelangelo Scinè, driven by his wife’s greed, wants to become a landowner and acquires land on land, snatching it from the small and poor owners in exchange for an ephemeral annuity. It starts with the old Ciuzzo Pace who then dies and therefore the merchant will no longer have to pay the annuity but will be able to keep the land forever. He proposes the same pact to an old landowner, Maràbito, but who nevertheless does not die. Indeed, the years go by and despite the oppression of Scinè, his wife and even the notary, he sees everyone die. And even when he turns 100, he takes a long time to die. For this he turns to death, calling it several times. But she does not seem to listen to his requests, almost giving an unsolicited eternity.

On stage, in the role of Marabito, there will be an unparalleled Angelo Tosto, flanked by an exceptional cast that includes the participation of Margherita Mignemi in the role of La Malanotte and with Tiziana Bellassai (Donna Nela, Scinè’s wife), Lorenza Denaro ( Za ‘Carminilla), Giovanna Mangiù (Annicchia), Plinio Milazzo (The notary Zagara), Raniela Ragonese (Za’ Gesa), Giovanni Rizzuti (Don Michelangelo Scinè), Santo Santonocito (Ciuzzo Pace / the doctor), Vincenzo Volo (Grìgoli) , Ruggero Rizzuti (Franciscu, son of Grìgoli).

“The beauty of this text, which sometimes evokes certain colorful but melancholy atmospheres of Andrea Camilleri – explains the director Manfrè in his notes – consists in the simplicity of its story, in its” strangeness “and in the irony with which the theme of imponderability is treated of human destiny. The story takes place within that peasant world so dear to the authors of Agrigento where the disease of the “robba” and at the same time the wise and ancient philosophy of the farmer, play an opposing and at the same time fundamental role in the unraveling of the daily, poor existence of the characters. And the peculiarity of this theatrical operation consists in the lightness of the story which, counteracting the tragic theme of the inexorable flow of time, creates a fairytale atmosphere waving between the comic and the poetic without ever touching the dramatic as the same topic might suggest. “.
